Moroso Launches New Collection by Jörg Schellmann

Besides producing and publishing editions of contemporary art from international artists since 1969, Jörg Schellmann has been designing incredible furniture starting in 2006, like the new collection for Moroso. Schellmann brings his art background to the table, with industrial and commercial influences, as well as minimal art and conceptualism, to create simple, yet striking works.

The Conduit Sofa and Armchair came from Schellmann’s desire to create seating made of soft blocks held together by thin tubes. The single tube bends and curves around the blocks, looking similar to a pipe, helping to join the pieces together. The results reference Peter Halley’s painting, “Cell and Conduit”.

The pieces have no legs and sit right on the floor. They both feature extra-wide armrests making them convenient to hold books, newspapers, or even your laptop.

The aptly named Double Table expands by 100% by pulling out both tops with just one hand. The sides contrast in color leading to the equation: “table + table = Double Table.”
