I’m fairly sure my lifelong obsession with pegboards can be traced back to my first reading of that time-honored classic, The Berentstain Bears and the Messy Room. In it, the cubs’ room is transformed from disastrously messy to squeaky clean — and the centerpiece of their gloriously organized new space is a pegboard, built by Papa Bear and proudly displaying puppets and hats and baseball bats. I realized then that if you ever want to hang a bunch of things of all different shapes and sizes on the wall, pegboard is the way to do it.
