Collage and Surrealism collide imaginatively in Matthias Jung‘s fantastical architectural compositions. The German graphic designer constructs detailed contemporary artworks from photographs of houses and buildings, cutting and piecing together disparate elements into elaborate edifices that could only exist in Jung’s mind. Placed in desolate fields and barren landscapes, Jung’s highly ornamental houses—which soar skyward or ramble on, appear ready to topple onto or levitate from the ground—would surely be architectural wonders if they could actually be built. Still, as they exist presently, Jung’s beautifully composed images are plenty wondrous.
