Handles are so yesterday, don’t you think? Paul Loebach certainly does. The New York-based designer has created a contemporary teapot that does away with superflous details—like a handle—in favor of a container made entirely of double-wall glass. The particular properties of the Ora Teapot’s twin borosilicate glass walls—the same utilitarian glass from which lab containers are made—works to keep hot liquid piping hot, while ensuring that the outside remains cool enough to the touch to render handles obsolete. Loebach, a graduate of Rhode Island School of Design, is interested in esthetics as well as functionality, of course (see our earlier feature on his beautiful X3 Watering Can for Kontexture), and to that end, Ora Teapot’s cylindrical form, simple spout, and chunky cork top may well be compact enough to store away neatly—but who’d want to keep it out of sight?
