From the architect. Kyodougakusha Shintoku Farm is a residential facility for people who, because of mental or physical disabilities or other reasons, must live apart from mainstream society.

Karinnpani Hall serves as a gathering place where not only farm residents but anyone working towards community welfare, agricultural tourism, and the revitalization of the dairy industry can gather for meetings, trainings, experiential classes, and other workshops.

The large porch is a device for weaving the four seasons into the space as well as a site for a wide range of activities. The project was conceived as a new model for architecture in northern regions.
