This year, and more specifically in a few days on the 9th of August 2015, Singapore will be turning the big 5-0! This little red dot has come a long way since it’s independence and this year we know the celebration is going to be a huge one. To join in the festivities, we wanted to spend some time highlighting some very Singaporean people and things we are especially proud of. For one, our old neighbours Foreign Policy recently launched their Brand Guide: Singapore Edition. The perfect compilation of local brands that we have been fond off for awhile now.
The great thing about being on this small island is that almost everyone knows everyone, especially in a certain industry. The sense of community is strong and it’s just a beautiful way to work, live and make new connections. We can’t wait to get our hands on this guide which is definitely not a conventional guidebook. We’ve always adored Foreign Policy‘s work and this time it’s no exception. We could not think of a better way to celebrate design and the 50th birthday of Singapore at the same time!
The nearly 500-pager is hand-assembled in Singapore and it’s pages are filled with stories and quotes by the talented people behind a host of the most progressive local brands. Read about how these visionaries took their ideas and ran with them, and how they got to where they are today.
We love how “handmade” and authentic this book feels. Just makes it hit home even more.
