As if we weren’t happy enough with Paperless Post’s partnership with Marimekko, the digital stationery company has now added Alexander Girard’s Mid-Century graphic motifs, textiles patterns and typographic compositions to its range of online invitation and greeting card choices. A collaboration with Girard Studio—the family-run enterprise that acts as official gatekeeper of the designer’s legacy, the Alexander Girard Collection comprises a suite of 24 Girard illustrations, including some of his most familiar textile motifs, created for Herman Miller, and long coveted by design buffs.

Girard, an avid letter-writer and stationery enthusiast, would be pleased, notes Aleishall Girard Maxon of Girard Studio—who also happens to be the designer’s granddaughter. “The fact that it utilizes the digital medium to carry out such a timeless act of correspondence was all the more exciting as our grandfather greatly appreciated both tradition and technology, and the potential for them to overlap.”
