I would like to submit a nomination for best pattern of all time: Dalmatian. The black and white print has enough contrast to make a bold statement. And yet, it retains the natural, organic appeal of its animal print cousins like cheetah and leopard. But it’s more modern and graphic, somehow. And the fact that it’s essentially a riff on polka dots means that it’s crazy versatile. So, yeah, best pattern of all time.
