Kickstarter Alert: Luxafor ‘Do Not Disturb’ Laptop Light

By greg@2modern.com (2Modern)

The digital world may have given us a new reason to avoid actually talking to our colleagues. Latvian startup company GreyNut is proposing a devise specifically made for open offices—where privacy is at a premium and interruptions are a given. Luxafor is a small LED light that attaches to a laptop via USB connector or Bluetooth, and displays a color commensurate with web activity. Used in conjunction with Luxafor’s ‘productivity apps,’ the device monitors online activity and displays a green light when the user is surfing the web or perhaps browsing Facebook or YouTube, but turns red when actual work is being performed—thereby communicating ‘do not disturb’ without a word. If Luxafor gets its Kickstarter funding, open offices may just end up being the quietest workplaces around.
