The first personality we’ll be writing about is Hans Wegner, one of the most important figures of the 20th century Danish Modernism. He is best known for using traditional techniques and knowledge as well as natural materials to create new forms. He developed and became a master of organic functionalism. Nowadays, his furniture pieces are produced using the same traditional craft techniques as in the 50s and 60s.

Hans Wegner focused in the design of chairs as he believed that chairs could stand on their own, outside of a furniture set. In the beginning of his work Hans explored and refined inspirations he took from the past and other cultures, particularly the Chinese and English, working in wood and woven rattan or leather. His chair collection alone totaled an incredible 500 prototypes and manufactured designs.
