- What I Love About My Small Home:
- As odd as it may sound, I love the smell of our home. Built in 1899, our little rowhouse has seen its share of families come and go. While the memories of those families has primarily faded now, some little imprints of their time here remain: one being the faint scent of pipe smoke ensconced in wood walls of our cellar stairwell. I immediately noticed the spicey tang when we first entered our home on a realtor’s tour but didn’t pinpoint its identity until I passed an old man smoking his pipe in nearby Baker Park. When the trapped aroma blends with our vanilla-scented candles, it gives our house a truly unique flavor. It’s one of the first things people mention when they visit, and it’s always the first thing I notice when we return from a trip. It just smells so much like home.
