My husband and I live in an old semi-detached in a small city. We own our half, but the other side is set up in two apartments. New residents moved in about a month ago and have started smoking – a lot — and definitely not just cigarettes. We don’t smoke cigarettes and don’t begrudge people that smoke, ahem, other things, we just don’t want to smell it in our house. We’ve tried leaving a lighthearted note, explaining that strong smells come right through the walls of the house but it seems like they just don’t care. I know that their apartment lease says that they are non-smoking apartments. I’d rather not involve the management company if I don’t have to, but I’m also am not relishing the thought of having to have a face-to-face conversation about their habits.
