Blind Students Design Furniture for Everyone

Professor and creator Rodrigo Brenner of Furf Design Studio believes that the very essence of product design can still be understood by those who are visually impaired. Thus, he created The Invisible Design Project, where students have the vision to design a better future, visually impaired or not.

BOOK was designed by Kleyton, inspired by a swing where an old couple can reminisce about their love story together. It is named book because its form resembles an open book.

Student Thais Castanho deconstructed his favorite musical instrument to create the CAVAQUINHO stool for a musician who is on stage and needs an eye-catching piece.

To give nod to all of those who triumphed in the face of hardship, student Luis Gustavo created an organic and minimalist chair named WALK. The rustic wood of the chair’s feet creates an intriguing contrast with the smooth leather finish.

Lastly, EMPTY is an observation by Bruno Leal of our consumerist society — how everyone wants something they don’t have, and necessarily even need, creating an emptiness in the heart. EMPTY has two holes in the back of an office chair, representing the emptiness inside.
