Craftmanship and tribal & cultural inspirations are since the beginning BRABBU’s major skills and design inspirations. So when we face ourselves with someone that share the same ideals, it’s easy to feel inspired by.
And today we want to show you Mandalayart. Developped by Soraya Meyer, a young portuguese woman, Mandalayart is a work of craftmanship inspired by the Mandala, which is a spiritual and ritual symbol in Indian religions, representing the universe.
The best way to understand her work it’s by looking to some of the incredible mandalas by Mandalayart.

In various spiritual traditions, mandalas may be employed for focusing attention of practitioners and adepts, as a spiritual guidance tool, for establishing a sacred space, and as an aid to meditation and trance induction.
Soraya can take more than 1 day to complete one single mandala. The size and complexity of each mandala varies according to the inspiration and person that will receive the mandala. Wool yarn and small wood sticks are the only materials used.
In common use, mandala has become a generic term for any diagram, chart or geometric pattern that represents the cosmos metaphysically or symbolically; a microcosm of the universe.
