The Canadian Canoe Museum has revealed the five designs shortlisted in its competition to design a new museum on the Peterborough Lift Lock National Historic Site on the Trent-Severn Waterway in southern Ontario.
Out of 97 entered proposals, six teams were originally asked to develop more in-depth concepts over the summer, but one team withdrew. The five remaining teams — from the United States, Canada, and Ireland — presented their designs at an open house held by the Museum.
The five shortlisted designs are:
Kohn Pederson Fox of New York City
Heneghan Peng Architects of Dublin
The team of Bing Thom Architects of Vancouver and Lett Architects of Peterborough
The team of Provencher_Roy of Montreal and NORR of Toronto
The team of 5468796 Architecture Inc. of Winnepeg and Moriyama & Teshima Architects of Toronto
In the fall, a committee will announce the overall winning design, and a locally licensed architect will be added to the winning team if the team does not already have one.
