The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) has selected Stefano Boeri’s Bosco Verticale as the Best Tall Building Worldwide 2015 “for its greenery at height,” according to a tweet by CTBUH. The tower was selected from a shortlist of four buildings, which included SOM’s One World Trade Center, Toyo Ito and RSP Architects’ CapitaGreen and Foster + Partners‘ Burj Mohammed Bin Rashid Tower.

Located in Milan, Italy, the Bosco Verticale stretches 380 feet tall, and is “one of the most intensive living green façades ever realized,” according to the CTBUH website. The façade uses vegetation screens instead of traditional cladding, “creating a distinct microclimate.” Overall, 480 large trees, 250 small trees, 11,000 groundcover plants, and 5,000 shrubs occupy the building.
