Ennead Architects has unveiled its design for the new Huawei Research Center, a research and development campus under construction in Wuhan, China. The new Center will be 350,000 square meters, and seeks to foster “interdepartmental interaction amongst employees while maximizing access to the surrounding landscape.”

The campus will be arranged along a linear park space with a water feature, following the topography of the area, and creating a central valley that will be a pedestrian-only spine, with automobile traffic kept to the site’s perimeter.

Eight research buildings and two cafeterias will be connected by this spine, and will contain offices, laboratories, data centers, and employee amenities.

Each research building is a collection of modular parts, and is flexible to be customized by the client.
