By now, most of your major pieces and statements are in place. Your sofa, rug, statement art are all happily installed in their proper places and co-existing happily side by side. What’s left is that final layer of stuff that really makes the room feel full, personal, and complete. We’re not talking about clever stylist tricks (like leaving your bed oh-so-carefully disheveled or placing freshly baked banana bread on the counter). We’re talking permanent touches that makes your home unique and unlike a catalog or photo shoot. It doesn’t mean that you must suddenly become a hoarder, with tchotchkes on every surface. (You’ll have to figure out where you fall on the minimalist/maximalist continuum). Just think of it as the icing on the cake.
