Floraform: Blooming Jewelry Inspired by Science and Nature

Science, technology, and nature have been blended together to create Floraform, a 3-D printed jewelry collection. Taking cues from the biomechanics of growing leaves and blooming flowers, design studio Nervous System replicates the intricate forms of plant tropism.

Watch the creation process:

To create the jewelry, they developed a technique to stimulate the growing process of plants. They 3D printed their first forms for “Growing Objects,” an exhibition at Stonybrook University.

From that, they created unique growth processes that became an emergent form. With ruffles, curves, and folds, the collection consists of 24 new designs in 3D printed nylon and sterling silver.
