WantedDesign, happened in the US and it is dedicated to promote design and also to celebrated the Fifth Anniversary of NYCxDESIGN programming for both Manhattan and Brooklyn. Founded in 2011 by Odile Hainaut and Claire Pijoulat, WantedDesign Manhattan, at the Terminal Stores landmark building in West Chelsea, hosted the Launch Pad and Conversation Series (among other panels) and more than 100+ exhibitors, one third of them U.S. based. The new WantedDesign Brooklyn platform at Industry City in Sunset Park, presented a large-scale installations, the Parsons Festival, the Design Schools Workshop, a pop-up store, a Design Forum, and other initiatives.

The American Design Honors is presented to Egg Collective

American Design Honors

WantedDesign, along with long time supporter of American design, Bernhardt Design, announced Egg Collective as the first recipient of the American Design Honors.

Launch Pad

25 designers and their market ready prototypes aimed to catch the eye of manufacturers interested in producing their design. Also, each vied for a spot at WantedDesign 2016 and WestEdge Design Fair (October 2016, Los Angeles, CA). The Jury included Jaime Derringer, Founder and Executive Editor of Design Milk; Marva Griffin Wilshire, Salone del Mobile, Milano, Founder and Curator Salone Satellite, International Press Director; Noah Schwartz, Senior Buyer, Design Within Reach; Giulio Cappellini; and Greg Keffer, Rockwell Group Principal. This program is supported by Design Milk.

Design forum at WantedDesign focused on design education and new challenges in educating design students, in the U.S. and abroad, with presentations and panel discussions bringing together design educators, design students and key design industry representatives from around the world.

Pop-Up Store

This year, a large pop-up store at the entrance of The Tunnel offered a selection of objects made in the Americas, including a WantedDesign curated section, a selection of independent and emerging jewelry designers who make architectural, high-quality, handmade adornments presented by Adorn Milk, products from Mexico selected by Design Week Mexico, and a book store by Printed Leaf Press.

The WantedDesign Conversation Series

This is a three-day platform and dialogue, co-presented by Metropolis Magazine and hosted in the Conversation Room at Grimshaw.

Additional Program

In addition to the Conversation Series, WantedDesign hosted panels and presentations covering diverse design topics from hospitality design, to graphic design, and a craft masters presentation.

Opening of the Moooi’s

New York Showroom & Brand Store – WantedDesign and Moooi partnered this year on the opening of Moooi’s New York showroom and brand store on May at 36 East 31st Street.
