Jean Nouvel is one of the most innovative influential architects of our time. Throughout his career, the French architect has created plenty of astonishing projects, such as museums, concert halls, theatres and hotels. His atelier is one of the largest architecture practices in France, with a team of skilled professionals.
Firstly we have the Duo Towers, whose construction started in 2011 and is still underway. With a contemporary and futuristic approach, the project was imagined as “(…) creating a character, a singularity that is in relation with the reality of the site, that reveals its particular beauty, that relies on it to invent and strengthen the attractiveness of the place.” The towers will certainly provide mesmerizing views of Paris.
The Imagine Institute starts a dialogue with the city by adding little reminders of its essence, such as Parisian roofs and trees. Featuring a poetic touch, this building is characterized by the high precision light architecture which is a symbol of how research has advanced over the years.
Next, we have the Philharmonie de Paris, which is a £280 million building situated in Parc de La Villette and is best defined by its multi-tonal façade with interconnected bird-shaped tiles.
According to Jean Nouvel, the Museum of Advertising “(…) creates a metaphor of the city with a square, a street and buildings. It is based on the brutal affirmation of the materials that make up the interior of the Louvre”.
The Cartier Foundation for Contemporary Art presents exhibits by established artists and offers young artists a chance to debut themselves. It is located at Raspail street in a glass building, surrounded by a modern woodland garden landscaped by Lothar Baumgarten.
Lastly, we present you the Arab World Institute, which is a unique building that was created to give a voice to the Arab world in France, promoting the work of Arab civilization, from art to knowledge as well as aesthetics. It is comprised of a museum, a library, a restaurant and several other spaces. The next time you’re in Paris, don’t miss the chance to visit one of these exquisite masterpieces by the amazing Jean Nouvel.
