In the contrasting but beautiful fusion between these two creative spaces, has resulted a cylindrical negative-space inspired by the arch of the Durdle Door, who has been interpreted to create a simple shape that bring us the light.

The Jurassic Light 117 employs Portland stone that carries impressions of fossils from the Dorset area – so acting as a constant reminder of the origins of the design, and a very strong image in our minds of the sun shining through the Durdle Door against the soft Portland Stone who brings a colouration and a unique texture to the design. A brass dimmer switch is used to control the levels of light emitted from the bulb, allowing the user to select their preferred brightness.

“We translated this idea in a more geometrical shape with the brushed brass arm and the frosted light source acting as the sun against the simple cylinder” Marie Dessuant, who has previously designed a candle holders with handy inner compartments for the brand.More lighting projects from the brand include The First Light collection from Canadian designer Dana Cannam and a collaboration with New York studio Workstead to create a lighting range formed from reconfigurable metal rods.
