Somewhere in the evolution of the American home, the kitchen and dining room became separate things. We started out cooking over a hearth, right in the middle of the home, and wound up with the kitchen as a sort of utility, tucked away in the back of the house. But cooking and eating are natural partners. Why not put them back together?
