Patricia Urquiola
Spanish by birth, and Italian by choice, Patricia Urquiola is one of the most coveted interior designers in the world and the keywords for her work are rigour and emotion, innovation and mental comfort. One of her most recent luxury Italian furniture projects is in collaboration with Kettal. The idea behind the Band Armchair for Kettal is the breakdown of structure, an object designed using an ensemble of pieces. The chair’s design intentionally challenges the classic sophisticated lines of furniture design and becomes something schematic, a conceptual program. A structure made up of repetitive angular shapes that give centre stage to its raw materials and can be formed entirely of aluminium or teak wood, and of parallel fabrics. The collection also includes a dining chair.
Dimore Studio
Emiliano Salci and Britt Moran invested in their individual experience with the profession and study of Design, Art and Fashion, and founded DIMORESTUDIO in 2003. Since that moment, they have designed and carried out every project in a personal and recognizable way. At Milan Design Week 2019, Dimore Studio established an amazing collaboration with Dior. This was an exclusive collection between these two companies, where they created objects that resembled the surrealism and cubism art. Their focus sat on the concept of different metals such as gold, silver, and bronze, creating incredible luxury Italian furniture pieces.
Antonio Citterio
With work in every significant museum’s contemporary design collection, Antonio Citterio is a knowledge broker for innovation in design and architecture. His humble demeanour and environmental sensitivity put form at the service of function, elevating both. Salone del Mobile 2019 saw the launch of a series of new elements in B&B Italia Maxalto’s collection that direct the brand’s rich history towards the future. Apollo is a new range of upholstered furniture, composed of three sofa types that balance linear and curved shapes in a fluid composition.
Piero Lissoni
In 1986, the Italian architect, art director and designer Piero Lissoni, together with Nicoletta Canesi, founded the interdisciplinary studio Lissoni Associati in Milan, focusing on architecture as well as interior and product/light design. Lissoni and his multinational team thus comprehensively cover these areas, completing them with graphics, art direction and corporate identity. For Salone del Mobile 2019, Knoll celebrated an important anniversary – the Bauhaus centenary – and presented the new collections alongside the iconic products of the brand. The new collections presented by Knoll designed by Piero Lissoni are perfectly coordinated with the recent items designed for the catalogue by the architect, resulting in a set of luxury Italian furniture.
