The ‘loop chair’ by markus johansson design studio, is a personal experiment to explore different ways of working, and discovering materials and methods of creation. This product visualizes the wandering of the mind and it’s a result of digressing thoughts about what a chair can be, and is built with physical likeness, taking on a form bordering between ideation and completion.

This project was also an intensive study on fiberglass and its capacity as a moldable material to form complex shapes. As we can read at DesignBoom, “to complete a series of prototypes, a 1:1 scale model of the chair was 3D printed. the printed model was then used to produce a silicon and fiberglass mold. a final mock-up was obtained by putting together both sides of the two-part cast, creating a hollow, functional fiberglass structure.”
