For this year’s Milan Design Week, 3M Design created an immersive experience to show viewers how 3M Scotchlite reflective technology is gradually integrated into design and fashion.

Upon entering Materials Village, it seems as if one is completely shrouded in darkness. Visitors are encouraged to take a selfie, and that’s when things really start to happen. The flash triggers an illumination, and the walls begin to glow with text, geometric designs, and apparel prototypes.

Each of the pieces features a unique way of using 3M Scotchlite reflective materials in fashion and design. Originally used to ensure visibility in the personal safety world, the reflective material is reimagined to become a design element, where light is reflected back to its original source and creating a unique fashion statement.
