Salone del Mobile Milano, a highlight of the design year, is underway in Italy, and modern lighting brand Fontana Arte has unveiled an exquisite new wall fixture made in collaboration with Swedish design practice Claesso Koivisto Rune. Named for one of Jupitor’s moons, IO is an appropriately moon-shaped aluminum disc that curves in towards the wall, forming a clean and simple lamp that appears suspended in a very nearly celestial manner. IO’s LED light source may be controlled by moving the disc up-and-down or side-to-side, narrowing or widening its diffused illumination as it moves towards or away from the wall. Though available in four elegant matte colors, we declare IO’s gracefully minimal form a dreamy modern wall lamp in any color.
