Pearl River Mart, the famed Chinese department store that’s been a New York staple for more than four decades, is closing at the end of the year. Since 2003, the store has occupied three levels on Broadway in SoHo—its rent will increase more than five times when its lease is up. Pearl River is currently scouting smaller spaces on Canal, or considering going digital.
