Dutch wallpaper studio NLXL, which has made it a point of pride to create entire wallpaper rolls with no visible repeat motifs, has just released a new wallpaper design that—pun intended—rules. Printed Rulers is a new design, created by founders Nick & Esther Vintage, which continues the photorealist tradition started with Piet Hein Eek’s Scrapwood collection, in which photographic reproductions of seemingly mundane objects are subject to wall-sized patterning—to striking effect. Here, vintage wooden schoolroom rulers appear in outsized vertical arrangements, bearing the fool-the-eye, high-quality printing for which NLXL has been lauded since its inception in 2010. Talk about an exceptional set of rules!
