Elegant mixture of the past, present and the future and modern classic of design, these unique pieces have been created by Dutch designer Sebastian Brajkovic and now they are on display at the Carpenters Workshop Gallery, 54 Rue de la Verrerie, Paris. He is one of the first artists to move into the Carpenters Workshop Gallery Roissy studios.

Sebastian Brajkovic’s work transforms classical forms into new shapes bridging various periods in furniture design. His artworks show his interest in the movement and rotation of objects. Nightmarish, distorted, and undeniably contemporary are the adjectives on Brajkovic’s own sculptural works. The chairs and sofas are like none of them you have ever seen. The furniture designer’s aim is to combine historic frame styles with his form manipulations to simultaneously evoke the past and the future. Contemporary furnitures are meeting with historical design figures on his works.

Sebastian Brajkovic’s Fibonacci chair is a testament to the rules of proportion developed by the 12th-century Italian mathematician. The designer furniture looks like a normal dining chair on one side, with the frame and legs supporting the upholstered sections.Sebastian2 Sebastian3 Sebastian4

Brajkovic likens his approach to that of a famed painter: “I’m drawn to the blurred effect and distortion, twisting, rather like Francis Bacon, who created and then dismantled his subjects.”Sebastian9 Sebastian10 Sebastian11

His handcrafted furnitures are on show until 29 of August at the Carpenters Workshop Gallery, 54 Rue de la Verrerie, Paris, France.
