A mom friend of mine who is preparing to rejoin the workforce told me that her New Year’s resolution was to set up an office for herself at home. Living in a small apartment already optimized to accommodate a family of four, she was starting to despair about how she could possibly fit a desk. Her needs are pretty simple: a dedicated place to sit and work at her laptop with room for a few paper files and notebooks.
