Hello there Bloggers,

So, I must confess that my lovely person has been a little bit far away from this routines and you have no idea how excited I am for being back. Sometimes Interior Design really put us to work and we have to let go (for a few seconds) the awesome life of a blogger who really knows what she is talking about. But the truth is that I am back and for now (the time I take to write an article) I am taking over this blog. To show you how excited I am, I am going to try to be funny (it normally ends bad): So “May The 4th by with me” ! (This is awsomeeee) – just to prove to the world that I am on top on the most modern jokes.

RELATED HISTORY: 20TH CENTURY BEST DESIGNERS: ALVAR AALTO

Today’s theme is related to the best designers that have lived across the 20th century and that contributed in an extremely important way to the Interior Design and Design Industry. As you may know, BRABBU has been developing this articles, in a way, to really say a special thank you to those who really push us further. Today’s star is Florence Knoll, the woman that married Hans Knoll, and that told to entire world that she was not a decorator. (She had some guts by that time) .

Born to a baker, and orphaned at age twelve, Florence Schust grew up in Saginaw, Michigan. Schust demonstrated an early interest in architecture and was enrolled at the Kingswood School for Girls, adjacent to the Cranbrook Academy of Art. While at Kingswood, Florence befriended Eilel Saarinen, whom she would later study under at Cranbrook. Warmly embraced by the Saarinen family, Florence vacationed with them in Finland, enjoyed the company of their accomplished friends, and was the magnificient foundation of her later progression and work trough the times.

She changed her last name when she met her adorable and business man, Hand Knoll, in New York in 1941. With him, and joining forces, she and he opened their furniture compay. They said “Yes” to eachother in 1946, ad from there, they grew the nascent company into an international arbiter of style and design – Knoll Planning Unit.

Florence and the Planning Unit were responsible for the interiors of some of America’s largest corporations, including IBM, GM and CBS. Her contributions to Knoll, and to the rise of modernism in America, are immeasurable!
