From the architect. This is a daycare center primarily for Amis aborigine children- the indigenous people of Taiwan, and others include Taroko, Atayal, Sakiraya, and Seediq.

In a remote village with few material sources of comfort but with abundant environmental resources, we abandoned complex aborigine totems, and returned to the nature of life for the local residents in considering a school for aborigines.

In the base, we have created a route for residents of the tribe to pass through. On rainy days, they can avoid the primary streets and choose to go through the daycare center. Most students who live in the community have already mingled with the residents; thus, they do not be affected when residents pass through.

The open space on the ground level and the through route create more community interaction and parent-children care.

Pacidal is an Amis surname, which originally means son of the sun. It retains the active spirit of aboriginal children, so they can run barefoot freely in a sunlight-filled classroom. No boundaries between the classroom and the fields, just like the wonderful times in the mountains, being wild!
You can say this is a happy heaven built for the children of the sun!
